Dr. Harinder Singh Bedi is the Head of CardioVascular , Thoracic and Endovascular Surgery in CMC College & Hospital Ludhiana, Punjab, India.Dr. Bedi has done his Schooling in 1974 from St Joseph’s Academy, Dehra Dun and has scored 8 points (83%).He had done his MBBS in 1981 from MGM Medical College Indore and was awarded as the Best Outgoing student.He received 10 Gold Medals.He further completed his MCh (Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery) in 1988 from PGI Chandigarh. In active cardio-vascular practise post super specialisation for over 18 years.
Dr. Bedi worked as a Registrar at the St Vincents Hospital in Sydney and in Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children , Sydney, Australia.He was also a Former Senior Consultant Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi and from its inception Started Cardiac Surgery programme at the Fortis Heart Institute, Mohali, Punjab.Dr. Bedi was also a Observer in Robotic Heart Surgery in Columbus University , Ohio, USA . He has performed over 9000 open heart procedures and there Results match international standards.
Dr. Bedi's Innovations and world first surgeries including the first series of multivessel beating heart surgery (acknowledged and published {ATS 2000} by the medical world and published in the Limca Book of World Records 2000) was also performed by him and his surgery was again recorded as World Record First Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery using a Cath lab in OT (Limca Book of World Records 2008) .

He Started his 1st cardiac surgical programme in the private sector in Punjab. He also received Punjab Govt Civil Award – Parman Patra 2001 – at Independence Day function in recognition of his contributions to cardiac surgery and for bringing international level cardiac surgical care to the people of Punjab. Dr. Bedi Practises what he preaches .He is also a member of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan and an active trekker and the only participant from Punjab in the Delhi Marathon 2005.He has published over 50 International publications including 15 from Punjab. Chapter in Book ‘ Myocardial Protection’ published by Blackwell Publishing, New York in Jan 2004.He was the only presenter from Asia at the prestigious STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons) meeting in San Diego (available at www.sts.org as a video) . The only presenter at the 21st European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons meet in Geneva in Sep 2007 (www.eacts.org). On reviewer board of International journals. Actively involved in research and teaching. Organised Master Class & Workshop of VAI on Venous Diseases Feb 2011 in Ludhiana .
